5 Days Uganda Gorilla and Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable Forest National Park. The driver will pick you up from your hotel or another agreed pick up point. You will begin an approximately 9-hour exciting Uganda safari with a brief stop at Equator line crossing area at Kayabwe for photo opportunity, brief clockwise and anti-clockwise experiments, cup of hot organic Arabic coffee and walk from north to south hemisphere on foot. You will have an African buffet lunch break in Mbarara and to freshen up. You will then travel the smooth Ankole grassland plains dotted with scattered acacia tree species and beautiful long horned Ankole cattle grazing majestically. You will then ascend the chilling Kigezi hills; a conducive habitat for Mountain gorillas, arriving at your hotel early evening to freshen up, relax your mind and gaze at the forested valleys and rugged hills. You are living your dream; tour into Uganda, home of the endangered Mountain gorillas. Sleep soundly to stillness and quietness of the night with loud howls sneaking in from the background in the wilderness.
Day 2: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking. Be up with the early bird, take a hot cup of coffee with a snack, have your packed lunch ready and be at the park headquarters by 8:00 am for briefing by the ranger guides about general trekking experiences, getting porters to carry your extra luggage and start off the exciting Mountain gorilla trekking activity. Ascend steep, rugged, mist covered, thick forested hills and get in the mix with thousands of other primates, birds, mammals, insects and different wildlife species sharing habitat with gorillas and walk in their foot prints. The exciting feeling of challenging the impenetrable forests, meeting up with the gorillas and everything about the jungles is so captivating and your brief duration of life in the jungles will stretch your imagination. You will spend just one hour with gorillas within which you will have grasped almost everything about these gentle giants as you will watch them play, feed and go about their daily life.
You will later return to the lodge for relaxation or opt to take a brief walk through the local communities. Listen to their traditional songs, dance to their music and get first hand life experiences and stories from the local people. You will get back to the lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 3: Depart Bwindi for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Bid farewell to the thick jungles and take another dramatic tour of Uganda descending the steep escarpments onto the bed of Albertine rift valley and explore the savannah grasslands. You are now in Queen Elizabeth National Park; home to tree climbing lions, leopard, buffalo and elephant besides a host of other mammals and lots of beautiful birds and other wildlife species. You will have your lunch at a camp in the wilderness and do an evening game drive, marvel at the scenery and beauty of the landscape and landforms as you head to Mweya peninsular arriving in time to watch a stunning sunset; one you may never encounter anywhere else with giant elephants and other mammals in the back ground. Check in at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Relax till lights fade.
Day 4: Early morning Game drive, afternoon launch cruise. Wake up with the first light of the morning. Take a hot cup of coffee with a light accompaniment and set off to optimize opportunities of seeing as many wild mammals as possible and have the best of Uganda wilderness safari. Watch the predators on active hunt of prey before the heat of the day and the prey are very much aware of this and extra alert of deadly surprise attack. Other mammals are lazily grazing on beautiful fresh savanna grassland softened by the morning dew, with lots of bird species painting the skies with eye catching colors while others are perched atop beautifully scattered acacia trees. You will get back to the lodge to freshen up, relax and enjoy your lunch. You will have an afternoon launch cruise and get close to mammals as they cool off the heat of the day on the shores of Kazinga Channel and maximize your opportunities of viewing more water bird species. You will then head back to the lodge to another stunning sun set and cool off the heat of the day and shake off fatigue by the swimming pool. Relax and enjoy your Uganda safari till lights fade.
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park > Kampala. (6 hours approximately). You will enjoy your morning sleep and have a late breakfast before embarking on your journey to Kampala. You will stop briefly by the Equator line crossing area for a photo session and you may also purchase some hand-made craft souvenirs before proceeding to reach Kampala later in the evening and this marks the end of the safari.
